HFNA's Wedding Celebrations 2019

The Hawaii Floriculture and Nursery Association began their four island Wedding Celebrations tour on Oahu in June.  Hitomi Gilliam and Sue Tabbal-Yamaguchi AIFDs were to present a show and demonstration at Floradec Sales in Honolulu.  Unfortunately, Sue was unable to attend due to an illness so at the last minute, Lois Hiranaga AIFD and I filled in as designers.

Locally sourced tropical product used in combination with the temperate product to produce a winning combination which Hitomi calls "Tropical Nouveau."

We also constructed 2 arches.  This is Hitomi's in pastel pinks, lavenders, whites, and peaches.

Lois and I constructed a vibrant colored arch in yellow, red, orange, peach and bronze.  Our construction utilized foam and chickenwire.

One last piece was an asymmetrical floral headband.

Oahu Wedding Workshop Highlights (1C) HFNA

This past week, I had the pleasure of working with Hitomi Gilliam AIFD and Lois Hiranaga AIFD on HFNA's (Hawaii Floriculture and Nursery Assoc.) "Wedding Celebrations 2019" which was held at Floradec Sales, Honolulu, HI.  We celebrated the marriage of our local tropical flora with temperate flowers from the mainland in a style called "Tropical Nouveau."

We had fun this past weekend at the Kauai Farm Fair in Lihue.  Johnny Gordines was the organizer and had the most spectacular collection of Kaui tropicals from local growers. Greenpoint Nurseries from Hilo donated anthuriums.  Featured designers were Fran, Arlene, Dottie and myself.

Oasis design show w/Loann Burke AIFD 4/22/12

The first half of the show demonstrated the multi uses of the various types of products produced by Smithers-Oasis.  Loann used megabead wire, flat colored  cane, and colored midollino in these examples.

This arrangement was made on the new floral foam risers.

I believe Debbi Barrett Holt AIFD designed this piece incorporating midollino.

Diamond wire used as a grid/armature in this arrangement.

The new clear Bind It tape holding several cylinder vases together.

Different types of wire/beads jazzing up plain vases.

Wall hangings incorporating the different  products.

Entry piece for a wedding.

Large centerpiece using the new foam sphere with wooden handle.

Very large pool float.
