This is a foundation class for those interested in floral design as a hobby or a career. We will explore the uses of different types of floral material while incorporating the all important elements and principles of design. Flower care and handling, a bit of terminology, botany and history will also be included. This is a fun mix or contemporary Western floral design styles utilizing some of the latest accessories such as aluminum wire, flat cane, etc. paired with flowers to create centerpieces, gifts, personal flowers, etc. Students will provide their own flowers.

We will be utilizing contemporary floral accessories to create designs such as wedding bouquets, centerpieces, tropical arrangements and more. Proper care and handling, and the use of the principles and elements of design will be stressed. Previous experience is desirable but not necessary.Students will provide their own flowers.
